Traction and semi-traction batteries, also known as Deep Cycle Batteries, are specially built to supply energy to electric drive vehicles, such as forklifts, pallet trucks, lift trucks, mechanical sweepers, electric vehicles, and wheelchairs, among others.
Traction and semi-traction batteries are designed to supply relatively small amounts of electric current over long periods of time (hours), thus allowing for a high number of deep cycles of up to 80% DOD (Depth of Discharge) and its subsequent charge.
Traction and semi-traction batteries are mostly built using liquid electrolyte technology, what requires maintenance tasks (mainly the addition of distilled water). In order to guarantee a longer service life, batteries must not be exposed to high temperatures, being their average reference temperature between 25 and 30 ºC.
To carry out the restoration of this type of batteries, we recommend the following equipment:
- MCS M-1007F restoration equipment
- Electrochemical battery tester
- BMS (Battery Monitoring System)
- Brymen multimeter
- Infrared thermometer
Other additional equipment may be necessary and/or recommendable.
